Masbate - “Wild West”
is an island province of the Philippines located in the Bicol Region in Luzon. It is bounded on the north by Vurias and Ticao Pass, east by San Bernardino Strait, south by the Visayan Sea, and west by the Sibuyan Sea.
Its capital is Masbate City and consists of three major islands: Masbate, Burias and Ticao Island and composed of 21 municipalities. This beautiful island is also known as the “Wild West” of the Philippines.

By Air :
Asian Spirit flies and Philippine Airlines(PAL) to Masbate from Manila daily.
PAL has daily flights from Manila to Masbate and from Legaspi to Masbate on
Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
By Land :
Masbate can be reached from Legazpi City by land to the Port of Pilar Sorsogon.
From there, motorized boats can take you on a two-hour ride to the Port of Masbate.
By Sea :
Shipping lines offer regular trips to the region’s major port of entry from Manila to the island-province of Masbate and to the province.
- The Sulpicio Lines’ MV Cebu Princess boat leaves Manila for Masbate at 10 am on Friday. It takes 17 hours.
- The William Lines’ MV Cebu City boat leaves Manila for Masbate on Saturday at midnight, taking 16 hours.
History Of Masbate:
The islands of Masbate were formed out of volcanic rocks over one hundred million years before man made his appearance in the tropical regions of the earth. Humans then made tools of stone, bone, and wood. Some of these very early stone stools and bones have been found in Masbate. Masbate was orginally a part of Albay. In 1846, it was made into a separate comandancia politico-militar.

Every March 18, highlights the Masbate Livestock Week or what the call it Rodeo Festival which feature various sports like agro-livestock fair, individual and group competitions in bull riding, steer wristling, carabao race, and their highlight the grand rodeo parade.
